Craft Carnival was founded in 1988 and has been dedicated since then to organising the very best in craft and garden events in and around Dorset.
We are proud that many visitors return to our shows year after year and we do everything we can to make them truly enjoyable occasions.
We invite the finest and most original craftspeople to show, demonstrate and sell their work at our events, and we make sure that there is always a really wide range of skills and crafts represented. Many of our exhibitors are locally based and some work in locally-sourced materials. We believe that it is an important part of our mission to encourage and promote the region’s craftworkers by providing them with direct access to an appreciative public.
Our events are an important outlet for many long-established producers, but we also make a point of encouraging talented young exhibitors, whose work brings something fresh and sometimes quite unexpected! We have found that the garden theme is a perfect complement to crafts, and we ensure that our spring and summer events include plenty of exhibitors offering plants and garden supplies.
Ours are not “village hall” events with a smattering of stalls. We hold our events only in settings that are attractive in their own right, where our visitors can truly enjoy a day out in beautiful and relaxing surroundings with proper amenities and plentiful free parking. Stay as long as you like – there is so much to see, and ample room to wander round and take it all in.
All our venues are child-friendly and offer plenty of space for kids to let off steam in safety. Some shows have free entertainment for younger children. Food and refreshments are available throughout the day, and there are plenty of lovely spots for a picnic, or just to wander round and take in the glorious settings.
All good things must come to an end. After 29 years and 165 memorable shows, Craft Carnival is retiring gracefully. We have, regretfully, had to cancel our Christmas 2016 craft fair due to ill-health and no further events are planned.
